Your Next Motorcycle Trip

We tend to overpack when preparing for all sorts trips. We worry that we might forget something, or not bring everything we need. When getting ready for a motorcycle trip you have to be vigilant, seeing as to how packing space is limited. Bringing too much stuff, can load you down. 1. Clothing:

When taking a long motorcycle trip, you are likely to encounter several climatic changes along the way. For this reason, you should always dress in layers. This way you can adjust your clothing to match the temperature. If possible, try to wear several thin layers, instead of packing large bulky coats and such. This will allow you more freedom of movement, and make it easier to adjust to temperature changes. This will also make it easier for you to remove unnecessary garments and pack them away easily.

2. Gadgets:

Most motorcycles supply enough power to bring along any sort of modern device you desire. It is best, as with everything else, to take the bare minimum to be comfortable. You do not want to load yourself down with unnecessary devices. You will probalby spend a lot of your trip, simply riding. You don’t need a lot of devices for this. Typically a cell phone, an MP3 player, and possibly a GPS system are all you need.

3. Safety Gear:

You always want to make sure that you are well protected before heading out for the road on your bike. You should always wear a helmet, to avoid severe injury. In addition to this, a jacket and riding pants, leather is a good choice, will help protect your skin from injury if you are in an accident. It is also a good idea to invest in some well-made, comfortable boots. Boots help protect you from leg or foot injuries.

4. Practical Outerwear:

You should always wear practical outerwear in addition to your regular attire. Your outer gear should be layered. Make sure your outerwear provides a wind-proof liner. You also will want to include rain gear, since there is a good chance on a long trip that you will run into some rain on a long journey.

You will want to include a small tool kit, and spare parts. You do not want to end up stranded without some way of fixing your bike. With this in mind, make sure you study up on how to do basic, common, repairs before heading out on your trip. This can save you a lot of grief if a minor mechanical problem arises during your trip.
