The billing of the services sector grew by 3.4% in March in Galicia but falls 1.5% employment

Throughout Spain, the increase in turnover of 5.6% in March over the same month the previous year, marking the first positive rate in the industry’s turnover from April 2008. However, the rebound in the billing did not stop destroying the continued employment in the sector. So in March the people employed in services fell by 2% over the same month of 2009, a fall which, product flow, has moderated relative to that of February, which was 2.7%.

In Galicia, the accumulated data from the first three months show that the turnover in services fell in the year ranging from 2%, while employees were 1.6% less, compared with the first quarter of 2009.

In the State, with the March data, there are now 21 consecutive months in which the destroying service sector employment in the interannual rate.

In the first quarter of the year, the services sector’s turnover has increased by an average of 0.3% and employment has fallen by 2.7%.

In March, the billing record trade a positive variation of 8.9%, while that of other services fell by 0.9%.

Within this last sector, almost all sectors showed negative annual rates in the third month of the year. The biggest drop was registered in information and communications (-4.6%), followed by professional, scientific and technical (-3.8%) and catering (-1.4%).

For activities within the trade, the greatest increases were for the sale of vehicles, motorcycles and parts (29.8%), wholesale trade of food products, beverages and snuff (13%) and wholesale trade household goods (11.6%). Among the activities that showed declines, non-specialized trade register the most charged (-10.4%).

Other services, activities which registered the largest increases were in travel agencies and tour operators (12.4%) and employment-related activities (12.3%).

For their part, recorded the largest decreases were aqruitectura services and engineering technicians, technical testing and analysis (-15.3%) and office administrative activities (-12.1%)
