Did you know that the first motorcycle was manufactured in Germany in 1885. Since then there has been a lot of change and improvement in its design and technology. As well with so many companies manufacturing motorcycles there is a lot to choose from varying from mopeds to heavy racing bikes.
One of the disadvantages of motorcycles as compared to a four-door vehicle is that it does not have much of a carrying space. So it will not really be good if you plan to go for a longer time and carry your personal belongings with you. A heavy backpack will not solve the problem either because it will interfere with your driving.
The solution to that is saddlebags, also known as panniers. They are carrying cases made of different materials, which can be fixed to the rear side of the motorcycle and are useful for the touring motorcycles because the people traveling on those need to carry more luggage than an average motorcycle rider. The saddlebags are designed in such a way that they can be easily and securely fastened to the motorcycle so that they would not fall off or drop their contents even at a high speed. You should have an idea of how much luggage you will need to carry so that you should buy a pair which best suits you.
Fairing is a shell made of plastic or fiberglass, which is fitted around the motorcycle frame to reduce the air drag. It can either be partial, at front or the back, or can fully cover the body. As mentioned its primary purpose is to improve aerodynamics by reducing unnecessary air drag. This will give you increased speed and decrease your fuel consumption. The secondary purpose of a fairing is that it can protect you from harsh weather conditions as well as mechanical injury in case of an accident. Like other accessories there is a wide variety to choose from and you can purchase a fairing which suits your particular needs.
Windscreen or windshield is another accessory, which can add to the safety and performance of your motorcycle. It is made of acrylic plastic and can be fitted easily to the front of the motor bike, with or without fairing.
Of course there is much more things to look at and these are only some. But I do believe that these are the main key points that I wanted to touch up on when it comes to the first motorcycle.
