There are plenty of things to see and do here in Tamworth. You can go river rafting or shopping through the city’s business centre. You could go wild life and bird watching through the various parks or attend one of the many country music festivals that this city is so famous for.

¢ There are many sports facilities for the sports person in you. You can enjoy cricket, netball, rugby, hockey, soccer, athletics, swimming, basketball, golf and baseball.

¢ If you want a break from the races then you can hit the golf course at one of Tamworth’s two eighteen-hole courses which includes the Greg Norman-designed Longyard Golf Course.
¢ You could visit the Tamworth Powerstation Museum which is located at 216 Peel Street and is just around the corner from the Tamworth Community Centre. You can view steam engines and electrical appliances from over the past times.
¢ For some two wheeled history you should visit the Powerstation Motorcycle Museum for some unique and interesting Australian motorcycles.
¢ Overlooking Tamworth, the Regional Botanic Gardens are a great place to visit. You can enjoy some greenery from the shady bush chapel to the meandering bush trails leading through to the marsupial park. This is a delightful place to explore. The emus, kangaroos and native birds in the marsupial park are always popular with locals and visitors alike.
¢ You can shop at one of the many shopping centers like at Peel St, Tamworth City Plaza Centrepoint Shopping Centre, The Atrium, Calala Court shopping complex, Northgate Shopping Centre, Tamworth Homespace
¢ Barraba, an area that has been declared a fossicking region. It is also known as the ‘Bird Watchers Paradise’ and you could also visit the local vineyard and enjoy the historical features of this town with a wine glass in your hands.
¢ Mount Borah at Manilla (home of the 2007 Paragliding World Championships) is a favourite destination with paragliders from all around the world and is you are one then you know where to head to.
¢ For fishing you can visit the Namoi River, and just a short distance from both Lake Keepit and Split Rock Dam, Manilla is a great base for some excellent fishing.
¢ Bendemeer with the beautiful McDonald River and the Moonbi Ranges is a great hiking area. Before you climb the range don’t forget to call in at the twin villages of Kootingal and Moonbi for they will welcome you with open arms.
¢ If you fancy a country drive then take a right from Nemingha – just out of Tamworth on the New England Highway to Dungowan, Niangala, or Woolomin which are famous for their berries. Just ask Barbara and Lothar Kalz, of Koolkuna Berries
¢ The historic town of Nundle is always a popular destination with many things to do and see including touring the Nundle Woollen Mill.
